What's New AX 2009
1)
Support for localization.
Now, with Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009, setup
can now be run in some or all of the languages offered within the Microsoft
Dynamics AX application.
2)
Addition of new components.
Such as Role Centers and Enterprise Portal
framework, Workflow, business
intelligence features, and synchronization
for Microsoft Project.
3)
Automated prerequisite installation.
AX 2009 installer automatically provides
the system implementer with the option to install most prerequisite software,
if that software is required but missing from the computer.
4)
Support for multiple application instances in
the same directory.
In earlier versions of Microsoft Dynamics
AX, it was possible to install more than one application on a computer but each
application installation had to be in a separate root directory. With Microsoft
Dynamics AX 2009, implementers merely supply an application instance name and
the installer will allow for both applications to reside in the same folder.
5)
Add, modify, and remove components.
If there is an existing installation on a
computer, and the system implementer reruns Setup, they will be given the
option of adding, removing, or modifying components.
6)
Improved servicing and maintenance.
All components, other than the Application
Object Server (AOS), reside in a single components installer (.msi) file so
that most components can be patched by a single patch (.msp) file. Earlier
versions of Microsoft Dynamics AX had multiple installer files that would
require running the patch file multiple times.Combining the installer files
into a single file improves the Total Cost of
Ownership for Microsoft Dynamics AX
Customers.
7)
.NET Business Connector recommended
for integrations.
Business Connectors enable applications
that are running outside Microsoft Dynamics AX to interact with an Application
Object Server (AOS) instance. The recommendation is to use the .NET Business
Connector to integrate with Microsoft Dynamics AX.
The COM Business Connector is included for backward compatibility
only, and is no longer available from the Setup wizard. However, for this
version it can be installed from the command line. In the next release of
Microsoft Dynamics AX, only the .NET Business Connector will be available.
